Premium quality New Old Stock Council Tool USA Made JERSEY PATTERN AXE with Curved Handle . We bought these axes about 8-10 years ago and they were not current tock then so I am not sure of the exact date of manufacture . The axes have been in warehouse storage and have small scuffs and marks but are otherwise new and beautiful ! The current model does not have a painted head and is of a different head design. The Jersey pattern features lugs on the head where the handle goes into it for added stability. The cutting edge measures approximately 5" wide and is very sharp. Due to the design of the head this axe excels at both chopping and splitting. The head is coated with red enamel paint and the cutting edges in clear lacquer to deter rust. The axes measures 35-36" overall and have a beautifully made curved American hickory handle. We have had several people tell us they prefer these older axes to the current models .
