New Old Stock 1960s WALTERS Axe Co. Hull Que. Fire Fighters 6lb AXE
This axe was packed in a crate in the 1960's and only taken out of the crate and unwrapped for the photos. The axe was made by Walters , the famous Canadian maker of premium quality Axes . As I have shown the head was still wrapped in cardboard and brown paper. I had to cut the brown gummed paper tape. The head has some oxidation from being in contact with the cardboard all these decades and on he back side of the head an area of the paint has rippled/bubbled from being in contact with the cardboard. The Axe head is still very beautiful and could be cleaned up if desired . The head has a very nice paper label on it that has wonderful colors. The head and handle both appear to be painted with a red enamel paint . The handle is beautiful and has a lovely gold colored logo on it that I have shown in a close up photo. The axe head is ground to a very fine edge and is still very sharp. The axe measures approximately 35" overall. There are small scuffs ,marks and dings from storage and manufacturing. A very beautiful tool that is really a time capsule into Canadian manufacturing !
