New Old Stock 330mm Hand Forged Japanese Cross Cut Saw ...I was told by the collector I received the saw from that it was a cross cut saw. I am not an expert so I cannot confirm this. Please look at the pics and use your judgement to determine the cut type. This saw measures 790mm overall in length ( including the handle) and came from the collection of a Japanese tool collector. He bought it in the 1980s in Japan .  The blade is hand forged and features hand cut characters at the base of the blade. The teeth are large and razor sharpe. The steel tapers from the base of the blade and gets thinner towards the point. We have sold a number of similar saws from the collection and I am told that these saws are premium quality and cut like no others. The handle is made from a pale wood wrapped in bamboo over most of its length. Where the blade meets the handle there is a small crack in the wood. This in no way affects use and probably happed years ago when the saw was shipped to Canada from the much more humid Japan. There are a few small spots of corrosion from all the years of storage. A beautiful tool !
